I don't mean to come off as annoying towards anybody reading this, but at this point, I really need help.

My skills at creating backgrounds and settings that mesh properly with my figure drawing style have hit an all-time bottom, and I cannot seem to find the proper means as to how to improve them. Composition and creating I can think up just fine with a pencil, but when it comes time to take photoshop to them, everything falls apart, ultimately destroying the image. To be brief, I don't know how to properly CG backgrounds, and nothing I've learned in college or books up to this point as taught me how.

Can anybody suggest some reading or possibly tutorials that teach these methods and techniques? Anything would be appreciated.
